A Love of Words.
. .
As a 5-year-old, I
"autographed" all the books in the house. In grade
school, I began to devour every book, magazine and
newspaper I could get my hands on. Our family's weekly trip to the local library
is one of my fondest memories. I even mastered the Dewey Decimal System
at age 10.
My favorite librarian gave me my
very own library card when I could sign my name in
cursive. She delighted in challenging me to read and
stretched the rules so I could take home all the
books my little arms could carry. The only condition was I had
to read them all.
I cannot tell you how many books
I read under the covers by flashlight. My Mother swears that's
why I needed glasses so young!
As the editor of my high school paper, I spent every
free moment in the newsroom. I wrote editorials, human interest
stories and explored the early '70s through a journalist's
eye.
Thus began my love of
words.
The Right Words. . .
As an adult, my career path has wandered - a
lot! Perhaps I really have taken the advice given to me so long ago,
"Don't study journalism to write. Major in anything else to really
prepare yourself. And most important of all... study life!" So
here I am! I've wandered through
several industries learning and discovering and preparing myself for my true
calling as a freelance writer. Even
though I haven't always called myself a "writer." I've really been one all
along.
-
As a business communications expert,
I've spent the past 15+ years helping people find the right words to tell
their company's story and convince people to buy their products.
-
As a marketing professional, I
understand the ways to connect with and motivate people.
As an avid reader, I study the world
at large and in my own backyard.
-
As a talented writer, I know the
right words.
